Bristol Old Vic and Handspring Puppet Co's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM to Make American Premiere at Spoleto Festival USA, Today

Co-commissioned by Spoleto Festival USA, Bristol Old Vic's new production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream will have its American premiere performance today, May 25 at 8pm at the Dock Street Theatre in Charleston, South Carolina. The production, which is directed by Tom Morris in association with South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company is the first collaboration between the two companies since their award-winning production of War Horse. Midsummer will run for 19 performances throughout the 17-day Festival and a full list of performances during the 2013 Spoleto Festival USA is listed below.

Festival General Director Nigel Redden presents the 2013 artistic lineup for Spoleto Festival USA, which showcases nationally and internationally acclaimed artists in a celebration of opera, theater, dance, physical theater, music, and visual arts. The 37th annual Festival, to be held in historic Charleston, South Carolina, from today, May 24 through June 9, will feature one of Spoleto's largest lineups in recent history, with expanded dance and theater offerings and two original opera productions, as well as a wide range of classical and contemporary music.

Nigel Redden, Director of Lincoln Center Festival, today announced the 2013 Festival's line-up, which runs from July 6 through 28, 2013. Single tickets go on sale on April 8 for the Festival, which will unfold in six venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus. There will be a total of 62 performances by artists and ensembles from ­­­­­ten countries.

Spoleto Festival USA General Director Nigel Redden today announced that Grammy Award-winner Angelique Kidjo and popular indie-rock duo Johnnyswim have been added to the recently-released program of the Charleston, South Carolina-based performing arts festival, scheduled for May 24 - June 9, 2013. This July and August, Lincoln Center Festival and Park Avenue Armory, in association with The Ohio State University, will bring the acclaimed Royal Shakespeare Company to New York for an unprecedented six-week residency. For the first time in its history of visiting the United States, the RSC will perform five of Shakespeare's plays-As You Like It, Julius Caesar, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, and The Winter's Tale-in repertory for 44 performances with a cast whose members will have worked together for three intense years with RSC Artistic Director Michael Boyd by the time they arrive in New York.

Mariinsky Ballet Joins Royal Shakespeare Company et al. in 2011 Lincoln Center Festival

The Mariinsky (Kirov) Ballet joins the previously-announced Royal Shakespeare Company and The Cleveland Orchestra, completing the trio of leading performing ensembles coming to New York this summer as part of Lincoln Center Festival 2011. Nigel Redden, Festival Director, today announced the complete Festival schedule, which runs from July 5 through August 14. In a co-presentation with the Metropolitan Opera, the renowned Mariinsky (Kirov) Ballet returns to the Festival for eight performances at the Met Opera House, dancing three programs. Highlighting the company's appearance are the U.S. premieres of Anna Karenina and The Little Humpbacked Horse, evening-length ballets by critically-acclaimed choreographer Alexei Ratmansky set to music by leading Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin. A third program pairs Alberto Alonso's Carmen Suite, to Shchedrin's arrangement of Bizet's score, and George Balanchine's neo-classical masterwork Symphony in C, also with music by Bizet. Artistic Director of the Mariinsky, Valery Gergiev will conduct the Mariinsky Orchestra.

Repetoire Change Announced for Lincoln Center Festival

The Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) acclaimed production of Julius Caesar directed by Lucy Bailey will join the schedule for the Company's Lincoln Center Festival residency this summer at Park Avenue Armory replacing Antony and Cleopatra, it was announced today by Nigel Redden, Director, Lincoln Center Festival, Michael Boyd, RSC Artistic Director, and Rebecca Robertson, President and CEO, Park Avenue Armory.
