Palmetto Luna Arts and Trustus Theater present "Inocentes y Pecadores" (Innocents and Sinners), two short original plays in Spanish by Lucia Vega and Julia Vargas, Columbia residents who hail from Peru and Colombia respectively. This is a rare opportunity for Midlands theater fans to see drama with a South American point of view. Even for those who do not speak Spanish "Inocentes y Pecadores" will bring a fascinating and distinctly different flavor to the theatergoing experience. "Inocentes y Pecadores" will be in the Trustus Side Door Theater November 5th – 7th at 8:00pm.

The first piece, "Abya Yala," is a ritualistic origin story that deals with the transformation of the individual and the importance of nature in the development of the human psyche. Incorporating music and dance, including a Tango, "Abya Yala" is a poetic and philosophical treat and a feast for the eyes and ears.

The second work of the evening, "Los Pecados Capitales del Mundo Moderno," (The Deadly Sins of the Modern World) is a rousing, farcical update on those sins we know so well: Vanity, Lust, Sloth, Envy, Avarice, Gluttony and Anger. As the "Pecados" gather for a family dinner, dysfunction and hilarity reign until the apocalyptic finale.

"Inocentes y Pecadores" is the first collaborative production of Trustus, Columbia's highly regarded theater, and Palmetto Luna Arts, whose mission is to foster an understanding of the Hispanic/Latino culture by promoting artistic creation and providing opportunities for cultural expression for the community in South Carolina (www.palmettoluna.org).

Tickets, $10.00 for the general audience and $5.00 for students, will be available at the door the night of each performance. Doors open at 7:30 with an 8:00 curtain. Early arrival is recommended, as seating is limited.

Trustus Theatre is located at 520 Lady Street, behind the Gervais St. Publix. Parking is available on Lady Street and on Pulaski Street. The Trustus Side Door Theatre entrance is through the glass doors on the Huger St. side of the building.
