NarroWay Productions to Present Native American Festival, 7/14

See, hear, touch, taste and smell -- engage all your senses in a unique, fun-filled experience at the Native American Festival on July 14 at the NarroWay Theatre! Members of the Catawba Indian Nation are coming together with NarroWay Productions to create an event that promises fun for all ages. Enjoy Native American food, tribal dancing, hand-made pottery, arts and crafts, authentic jewelry, face-painting, a petting zoo and more. Tickets to the festival are just $5 per person. All events will be outdoors in the parking area surrounding the NarroWay Theatre at 3327 Hwy. 51 N, Fort Mill SC. And guests attending the live theater show "Wounded Warrior" earlier the same day will be admitted free to the festival.

"Wounded Warrior" is a live theater show that tells the story of the great Apache warrior Geronimo. The show begins at noon and includes a delicious Native American-themed meal with blackberry-topped fry bread for dessert. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.narroway.net or by calling 803.802.2300. It is the theme of the show that inspired organizers at NarroWay to invite the Catawba Indian Nation to combine efforts for the festival experience. Guests attending the show are admitted free to the festival.

See craftsmen in progress making pottery, jewelry, baskets and other artwork. Listen as a medicine man offers insight into the use of natural organic remedies. Touch authentic clothing, artifacts and hand-made crafts. Taste original Native American foods. Smell the aroma of natural herbs, buckskin and a culture that once populated this nation.

The Native American Festival promises to be both educational and entertaining. Hear the drums beat and watch an incredible dancer perform various tribal dances with precision and passion. Then take part in a hands-on instructional session and learn the movements that evoke emotion and inspire a new appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of our Native American brothers. Participate in a language session and learn to speak various phrases from the Catawba language.

Booths will be set up outside the NarroWay Theatre from 2pm until 6pm. Admission for those attending the show, "Wounded Warrior," is free with a show ticket. Admission for those who are only attending the festival is $5 per person at the gate. Guests will be able to purchase a variety of hand-made crafts, artwork, food items and other Native American specialties. In addition, NarroWay will also offer a sensory petting zoo with a variety of live animals on site.

Guests attending the show, "Wounded Warrior," should make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance. For those attending only the Native American Festival, there is no need for advanced reservations. More information is available by calling the NarroWay box office at 803.802.2300.
