Center Stage's production of RUMOURS by Neil Simon opens tonight until Match 3 at the Center Stage in Downtown Greenville. Sponsored by Pelham Architects, and directed by Myra Greene Shaffer, Rumors features Centre Stage favorites Richard Beveridge, Bryan Gallagher, Michele Labar, Paige ManWaring, Bruce Meahl, Tiffany Mortan, Peter Simms, Kelly Wallace and new comers Phyllis Jackson and Virgil Hobbs.

At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken and wife Chris must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and mis-communications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

Myra Greene Shaffer is thrilled to make her Centre Stage debut directing Rumors. She is the past Artistic/Executive Director of The Greenwood Community Theatre, a position she held for 14 years. She has over 120 directing credits for GCT as well as The Laurens County Community Theatre, The Abbeville Opera House and Presbyterian College. Myra is a graduate of The Burt Reynolds Institute for Theatre Training, Lander University and holds a MA in theatre history from The University of South Carolina. She is currently the Director of Alumni Affairs for Lander University and serves as an Adjunct Professor for the Theatre Department. Myra has also performed numerous leading roles at The Burt Reynolds Jupiter Theatre, touring theatres, and community theaters. She is a native of Greer and credits Virginia Uldrich for sparking her love for the performing arts.
